The Every Woman Health and Fitness Fair took place at Fulham Library on 8th March. It was a exciting, high energy, interactive, intergenerational event celebrating International Womens Day and the London Launch of the This Girl Can Campaign.
There was over 80 visitors on the day – this was great as I only had 10 days to organise the event. Which meant designing the leaflet, banners, booking the facilitators/workshops, ordering food/drinks, organising music, marketing and publicity and a TV appearance on London Live – click HERE to view footage.
I was so happy that The Worshipful the Mayor of the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham Councillor Mercy Umeh who despite being booked took time out from her busy schedule to visit the fair. The Mayor observed a sample of the different types of exercise on show at the fair: Kids Dance by Joanne, African Dance by Serena and Full Figured Fitness’ 80’s Aerobics by Lauretta. The Mayor also had a massage by Lorraine and took time to take photographs with the participants The Mayor enjoyed herself, all members of her daily were given a t-shirt and a unique ‘This Girl Can’ pin badge. The Mayors visit really made our day.
Participants were given free samples of healthy bars by Rude Health – click HERE to find out more about them.
We were also treated to delicious organic juices by Punch and Juicy and a yummy organic pumpkin soup enjoyed by all young and old (see pic below)!
We are grateful for a visit and a talk with The Worshipful the Mayor of the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham Councillor Mercy Umeh – meeting the Mayor and seeing everyone body of every age and every size and every culture come together and enjoy themselves in a shared space – made my day!
Thank you to all those involved who helped make this day a great success. A big thank you to sponsors London Sport and the This Girl Can Campaign and London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham Sports Development Team and Rude health for their delicious healthy eats and treats. We hope there will be more similar events to come. Look out for more posts and pics of the Health Fair.
